“I am cautiously optimistic as there are some early signs that some regions have made real progress.” Illinois closed its gaming industry in mid-November due to a surge in coronavirus cases.
The 10 riverboat casinos in the state and 37,459 video gaming terminals at 7,135 locations including bars, taverns, restaurants and truck stops, were forced to close. Together, these measures take a holistic approach to realigning the way customers interact with the Illinois Tollway and lay the foundation for future changes to ensure the Illinois Tollway system works for everyone.
Beginning in July, toll violation fines in existing notices prior to March 9, 2021 will be reduced to $3 through June 30, 2021 to provide customers an opportunity to pay off fines at a significantly reduced rate. To view your reduced balance, click the link below and enter the number on your previous violation notices.
Beginning June 25, a new process for unpaid tolls will defer the issuance of violation notices by several months. Customers still have at least 14 days to pay unpaid tolls online with no additional fines or fees.
If left unpaid, owners across all vehicle classes will now receive an invoice for unpaid tolls with an initial fee that better aligns with the underlying tolls associated with the class of vehicle. Passenger vehicles will see an 85 percent reduction in initial costs, with a $3 invoice fee, rather than a $20 fine for each unpaid toll.
Customers across all classes will see a reduction, and violations will only occur after a notice remains unpaid after over 90 days. Customers who receive an invoice should pay all unpaid tolls to ensure avoiding future fines and fees.
Drivers on the Illinois Tollway system are required to pay unpaid tolls online. Tollway Trip Tweets include information about the type of incident, the location by nearest crossroad and milepost, and the subsequent impact on traffic, such as lane closures.
Tollway Trip Tweets are an informational service to be used by customers only when they are not operating a vehicle. Remember: If you see ANY vehicle stopped on the side of the road with flashing lights #GiveThemDistance.
