That means your horse needs to be able to get the clearest signals possible in order to have the best performance possible. You can go online or to a tack store, and you will see literally thousands of bits.

When you pull back on the reins, the horse throws its mouth open. Not to mention the signals the horse is getting are mixed and unclear.

We have completely reinvented the way the bit works and the ability to give the horse clear signals. Here is a great video that shows how the bit works differently here.

Notice The Ball Joint In The Image ball joint technology keeps the bit from rotating upward in the horses mouth and causing it pain or discomfort. Each bit has the ball joint and comes with your choice of mouthpiece and length of shank.

But he does good with it and my other bit i have is a O twisted ring ANF i actually advent got to use it yet. My mare right now is going in a twisted snaffle, she responds very well to this, and I've started her on the pattern.

Wonder bits are often very good as others have said. For getting him to go around tighter and faster, you've got to work at it at the slower speeds. Spirals work really well for applying the same aids that you'll need to get them to turn tighter.

You also want to make sure that he's using his hind end well, this will help him go around sharper and faster as well. One exercise that is wonderful for barrel horses and getting them to work off their hind end is rollbacks.

I hope all of that made sense, I can get a video of the rollbacks if you need one, it's kind of confusing to explain in words. I'm new to all the events in gymkhana and I've done a few runs but not enough to call myself the least bit experienced.

I need a bit that isn't harsh but will give me more control on the face pressures for turning. ! With this bit (^^^^) I am not sure if the break in the middle would push against the roof of my horse's mouth.

That's actually a nice starter bit to use, and if you're worried about it hitting his mouth (which honestly unless he has a low pallet it shouldn't bother him) there should be a 3 piece mouth piece. It has some slight gag action which is a great thing in barrel racing because it lets the horse slowly feel the full bit pressure.

I do have a barrel bit I ride in when racing and when not because my horse just loves it. So long as your horse is happy, and you are not over batting him to fix a training problem, you don't need to change bits just because you're running barrels.

The next piece of equipment that can make or break a barrel run is the bit. Some barrel racers use one bit for training, one for exercising, one for competition and another for pleasure riding.

Your horse's legs take a lot of stress running and turning hard. The right kind of boots can absorb some of that stress, reducing the wear on his legs.

If you buy the wrong type of material it might be too slick to hold onto while running, also having the proper length is the only way to control your horse the most efficient way.
