South Congress? From breakfast tacos to regional Thai specialties to churros, Austin's food truck scene is as varied as the city's residents.

Four heat levels help patrons navigate the menu, ranging from “wimpy” to “fire In the hole!” Salve your burnt taste buds with some homemade sun tea. Austin really runs on food trucks, and there sure are a lot of ‘em in the city.

To help sort through the growing number of offerings, here is Eater Austin’s guide to essential food trucks offering takeout and delivery services right now, serving everything from pizza to barbecue to lobster rolls to tacos. That includes the barbecue from Valentina’s Tex Mex BBQ and Leroy & Lewis, tacos from Veracruz All Natural and El Prime, sweet churros from Churro Co., fiery Thai food from Dee, vegan West African fare from Waste, shawarma from Beirut, and much more.

The Lebanese food truck parked at the Domain offers stellar shawarma in wraps, bowls, and plates, plus a fries' iteration. Pickup orders can be placed online, and there are Uber Eats deliveries too.

The food truck boasts healthy locally sourced bowls full of vegetables and proteins (both meat and vegetarian-friendly options such as grilled tofu and barbecue jack fruit). Chef Bahia Hillary’s Haitian truck focuses on dishes from the Caribbean island, from stuffed plantain cups to baked patties full of beef or vegetables, to stewed red snapper and fried pork shoulders to jerk chicken wings.

Sonoran hot dogs are the stars of this Allan dale food truck, where the franks are wrapped in bacon and placed in buns sourced from Tucson, Arizona. Really great vegetarian soul food can be found at chef Andrea Dawson’s food truck, from chicken Satan with eggless waffles, hot water cornbread, to Cajun mac and cashew-based cheese.

To-go orders can be placed in person or over the phone, and there are Uber Eats deliveries. The Brazilian food truck is known for its South American dishes, from yucca fries to empanadas.

The hearty piranha Grenada, which comes with a mess of tender steak, rice, beans, etc. The Thai and Laotian truck won Eater Austin’s food truck of the year award in 2019 because of its amazing Southeast Asian fare.

There’s the spicy Lao pork sausage, fried noodles with ground chicken, and flaky ROTC paired with a curry dipping sauce. Areas are the star of the Venezuelan food truck, where the small sandwiches are filled with meats like chicken, pork, beef, and/or vegetables and fruits like avocado, sweet plantains, and much more. Pickup orders can be placed online or in person, and there are Grubhub deliveries.

Via 313 smartly parked its trailers at bars, serving up perfect think Detroit-style pies. One of the city’s best coffee trucks is this Goalie trailer, with a strong array of beans from Flat Track to Super thing, plus food from places such as Pueblo Video, Rose’s Bagel, and La Pâtisserie.
