In general, the product requirements tend to be buckles, not Velcro (quiet to put on/off and adjust). The Artery pads are nice if you value light weight over your wallet lol.

If your wallet is more important, go with some inexpensive pads from Home Depot. The trade off for low price was about triple the weight and bulk. So, at the end of the day, the only thing that matters is what works for you.

Without having done this before, I would assume a hard plastic Knee cover would be slippery on the tree. Yes, grip can be a thing on some barks, in the rain, etc... but in combination with a platform or ring of steps or furniture brackets on a ratchet strap etc. You'll probably be using your feet more to position yourself than your knees when it counts most (making a shot).

That makes sense for noise... depends on what kind of knee pad you're using. Honestly, I've only had mine on the outside so far and have only done test sits since making my saddle, so I don't know what I'll like most yet.

I learned from years of buying cheap tools, lol. I would go with DIY ring of steps made out of plate 6061 aluminum or just spend the money on the platform setup. I learned from years of buying cheap tools, lol.

Seems like you always have to give up something to gain something in the mobile game, lol. I would go with DIY ring of steps made out of plate 6061 aluminum or just spend the money on the platform setup.

I'm cheating my way into this as much as possible (see SIG). I just received furniture brackets to mod and try but haven't gotten that far yet. May end up with a Saddle Hunter platform (does that thing have a real name yet?).

I was up a tree for 2 hours just learning how to set everything up well and my knees never hurt. They fit into a pocket sewn on the knees of my uninsulated hunting pants.

Strap digging into back of leg, packing them in, putting them on, careful you don't drop one and pad shifting around on knee. You can buy work pants with the insert pockets and wear them under camo.

I had Gray Wolf linens sew pockets on the knees of hunting pants that I ordered. They fit into a pocket sewn on the knees of my uninsulated hunting pants.

I use the Site Timberline Pants with kneepads, and they are awesome. I don't know if the kook pants have changed, but I bought a pair six or seven ago and the knee pads were not substantial.

I've used them while running, jumping, sliding, just about any type of movement, and they stay put and protect my knees well. The artery caps are really nice quality and seem super durable.

Held off for a while because of the price but I’m glad I finally pulled the trigger! If you need some quickly though it'll be hard because they're basically out of stock everywhere and back ordered for months.

If you have a problem, we will solve it. It was developed in the early 1960s as a lightweight alternative to the tree stand, however we’ve seen a huge spike in popularity in recent years.

This is due in part to the increased number of public land hunters (including myself) looking for a light weight, mobile hunting solution. Whether you’re interested in saddle hunting for the first time or are a seasoned vet, here are 7 items to consider adding to your setup this fall.

There are a few variations of aiders: close loop webbing, cables, ladder style, and plenty of DIY options. Back bands can be used in multiple positions to support your weight, which is especially important if you are a “low tether” kind of person.

It can also be used under your butt in the seated position to add a surprising amount of support and relieve pressure points. The Rope man 1 Ascended is an invaluable piece of gear for both the climb and anchoring yourself at hunting height.

It allows you to make one handed adjustments to your lineman’s belt and your tether rope (I’d recommend buying one for each). Prussia knots are fine and are proven to work, but they require two hands to make an adjustment.

Ultimately the ease of use of the Rope man will help to avoid potential slip ups while climbing and setting sticks. Driving your bare knees into the tree is extremely uncomfortable and trust me, you won’t be able to sit still for long.

I like using a foam stadium butt pad with a strap and buckle that I can hook around the tree and tighten around knee height. T-Rex Tread Tape has been useful for the edges of my platform and my top climbing stick, especially when wearing rubber boots in wet conditions.
